UEFA postpones its decision regarding the participation of Crystal Palace in the European League

The European Soccer Association (UEFA) has decided to postpone its decision to allow the participation of the Crystal Palace team in the European League next season.

The British press agency (Ba Media) reported that Crystal Palace believed that he was in a place in the European Championship thanks to his victory in the FA final against Manchester City last May, but doubts arose about the possibility of the participation of the English team due to the UEFA regulations related to the multiplicity of the property of the club.

John Taksab, a former English club shareholder, is linked to investment interests in the French Club León, who qualified for the same tournament.

(UEFA) announced today, Monday, that he needs more time to make a decision, and that Lyon has an agreement that threatens him with the exclusion of European competitions next season if he supported his decision to fall to the Second Division in France.

The French club appeals to its decision to leave the second grade issued by the French financial supervision authority due to financial difficulties.

In a related context, it was announced last week that Texach agreed to sell its participation in the English club to Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Gates team.

Texstore also announced his resignation of his leadership positions in Lyon, while Crystal Palace expects if this step will improve his position.

The case of Crystal Palace was considered under article five of the competition regulations of the European Football Association, which establishes that since March 1, 2025, clubs that wish to participate in the Continental Championship for the 2025/2026 season must demonstrate that there is no interests or influence of any of its officials or legal entity in more than one club that participates in the same competition.

It also establishes that if two or more clubs do not meet the standards, only a team will be allowed, and the occupation of Lyon of the French league seems to be a higher position in a range higher than the palace.

“The agreement of Agreement we signed with the Financial Supervision Authority at the Clubs of the European Football Association means that we can participate in the European League next season, and the final decision continues to depend on the result of the appeal against the decision of the financial supervision authority in France,” Lyon said.
